My name is Abel Lee Champion II but you probably know me better as GunxAce91, both my Xbox Live Gamertag and my PSN ID. I am 19 years old and currently enrolled at the University of Miami finishing up my first year as a Business, pre-Law Major.

Well anyway, back to the important stuff, I am a videogamer through and through. I have been gaming for 16 years; my first game system, the Super NES, belonging to my dad. The very first game I ever played was Mortal Kombat II which is still the greatest Mortal Kombat game ever released. My favorite game on the system is split somewhere in between Megaman X and Super Mario World.

Ultimately after they realized just how much I was playing my dad’s SNES they gave it to me for my fourth birthday. That was the start of a very relationship between me and the gaming industry. From that point on I had to have every major system that came out (I emphasize major, I didn’t buy any of those crap systems like the N-gage or the Virtual Boy). But even at this point my collection was still lacking. I was a child and my parents weren’t going to buy me every game that I wanted (insert sad smiley here). Even though I have quite a few PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube, and SNES (not including the Genesis, Saturn, or 64, or any of the handhelds or other systems) I still needed much more.

Though I have always had a great appreciation for games, my real collection has really been at its greatest in the current generation. This can most greatly be contributed to the fact that I actually have a job! I started off with the Xbox 360, subsequently having to send it in to Microsoft twice (First for getting a set of Red Rings of Death, and a second time for losing it in a tragic lightning strike, along with half of all the other electronics in my house, which I told Microsoft was second case of RROD’s). However despite my tragedies the 360 has been my most reliable system. Just the sheer number of games that I have played on it and that I have remaining to play. But even saying that I still love my other systems (My PS3 and Wii), they give me substantial enjoyment and at any given time I am playing one of the three.

I became a part of SFX-360 by chance, so to speak. At the University of Miami there is an event known as “Canes Fest”, which is designed to introduce the freshman students to various clubs and activities around campus. Well, whilst traversing the floor of the Bank United Center looking for the Brazillian Jujitsu Club (I couldn’t find them for the entire 2 hours that I was there!) I came across a banner displaying the words “SFX-360”. Intrigued I asked exactly what the setup was about. This is where I first met our LadyJ who told me that SFX-360 was an organization that held the purpose of creating a community for gamers by bringing them face to face. Enthusiastically I accepted a card from her and sent her an email at my earliest convenience (I made it back to my dorm room approximately 15 minutes later and started typing).

After getting an email back from Julie I was told to email SFX-360’s Editor in Chief Buzzkiller about my interest in joining the organization. Brian got back to me in no time and told me to send him a copy of a news article and another piece of work that I had written in the past. But the first that came to mind was the fact that I had never written anything like that. But that did not deter me! At the time the freshest thing on my mind was Mirror’s Edge as I had just finished playing it, so that’s what I wrote about. It was a pseudo review I guess, accentuated by a quirky atmosphere and tone that I threw in for good measure. Once I was done writing I sent it to Brian and prepared to write a news article to no avail. So I waited a few days, unaware if I had succeeded or failed in my endeavor, my heart beating frantically in my chest, I guess I was a little nervous. Two days later I received a call from Brian saying he wanted to speak to me, my heart practically beat out of my chest. Was this the “sorry you’re not quite what we’re looking for call” or was this the real deal. I hesitated to call him, I wasn’t really looking forward to rejection. Finally one Monday morning I decided to build up the courage and give him a call.

That’s how I became a part of SFX-360 and for most part that’s all you need to know about me.
